Cambridge Skating Club Rules, 2007-2008

Member Sign-In Procedures
Members are required to enter their names (first and last) in the Member–Guest Register at Willard Street, and the rinks – BB&N and Daly – where the CSC rents ice time.

Guests
Guest names must be entered in the Member-Guest Register.
Guest fees are as follows:

The children's fee applies to juniors 18 years and under. Members will be invoiced for guest fees. An individual guest may attend no more than three times per season with the exception of Wednesday afternoons at the Daly Rink and Wednesday evening hockey at BB&N. (Special arrangements for out- of-town visitors may be made in advance by contacting the club's administrative manager.)

Emergency Procedures
In case of emergency an effort will be made to call the telephone number provided on the membership form. If a responsible person cannot be reached, or it is deemed necessary, an injured person will be taken to the Mount Auburn Hospital for emergency treatment.

Willard Street Pond Hockey
At Willard Street, hockey is played at the far end of the ice. Players use tennis balls; pucks are not allowed. Junior members must wear helmets with face guards; adult members are advised to do so. Small children may practice hockey in the alcove by the clubhouse.

Children under 12
Children under 12 years of age must be in the care of an adult or responsible person. The staff should not be asked to watch young children.

Safety for Infants, Toddlers and Beginning Skaters
Skaters may not carry infants or children on the ice.

Willard Street: Sleds, small wooden chairs or plastic crates are permitted on the ice for small children learning to skate. These items may only be used under adult supervision.

BB&N and Daly Rink: Sleds, baby carriages, chairs, and crates are not allowed. Skates must be worn on the ice.

No Food or Beverages on the Ice
Food and beverages should not be taken onto the ice. Beverages, food or bits of paper dropped on the ice mar the ice, are difficult to remove, and are a safety hazard to skaters.

Rinkside Rules at BB&N
At BB&N, food and beverages are allowed only in the area around the bleachers. Please note: Absolutely no food or bever ages are allowed in the changing rooms. Members are asked to take care to dispose of cups and plates properly.

General Ice Rules
No fast tearing around or cutting in and out at Willard Street, BB&N or Daly Rink.

No hockey sticks on ice during general skating at BB&N and Daly Rink.

No spirals, jumps, or camel spins during general skating at BB&N or Daly Rink. Under no circumstances will unsociable conduct or skating to endanger the safety of others be permitted.

Ice supervisors may remind any member disregarding these rules and, if necessary, ask them to leave the ice. Any continuing problems will be brought to the Board's attention for further action, including revocation of membership privileges.

The club's informal, friendly environment has prevailed for generations and is based on mutual consideration. The rules exist as guidelines to assure the safety and enjoyment of the club by all members.
